So Much More

Do you ever feel limited; hedged in; like your options in life only go so far? Restlessness seems to be something a lot of people deal with off and on during their lives. In a sense, it is part of the human condition: we want to move up and onward. If you feel stuck, know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

In Genesis 11 we read the story of the tower of Babel. This is where people, all speaking the same language, built a city with a tall tower hoping to reach heaven. It’s here we learn how different languages came into being. But in v6 we read something amazing. There God said, “…nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.” While this does not mean we can sprout wings and fly to the moon, it does show that humans have great potential.

Are you facing something today that seems impossible? What is it: a new job; marriage or family problems; finishing a project; graduating from school; getting out of debt? The list goes on. Too often our outlook on what we can accomplish is limited by what we have experienced and think of ourselves. In turn, we curb our potential by the false limitations we put on ourselves. This does not mean “You can do anything you want.” The skinny 5’5” guy will not likely make it in the NFL. My point is this: with God’s help you can accomplish far more than you ever imagined possible, (Eph. 3.20).

Father, You are good. You have good in store for us. We fail to hold on to this. Help our unbelief. Remove our doubt. Increase our faith to see beyond the limits we have imposed on ourselves. As we step into the new possibilities You have for us, guide us, provide for us, and give us the wisdom and strength we need to do all we can do for You.
